I was delighted to be invited to visit John Hellins Primary School in Potterspury recently. I was lucky enough to be shown around each of the classrooms by that year’s School Council representatives, and I was incredibly impressed by how courteous, knowledgeable and confident they all were!
I also got the chance to catch up with the headteacher, Mrs Matthews, about the progress on their two new classrooms. Both have now been built only a year after I last visited to discuss the designs and issues around finance the school was dealing with, and I am pleased to see how quickly progress has been made.
I rounded off my visit by talking to students from years 5 and 6 about my role as an MP, what exactly the Leader of the House does, and all about the centenary of the Representation of the People Act and the #Vote100 celebrations. I got asked some really interesting questions, and there were certainly a few budding politicians in the crowd!
