During the recent monthly meeting to discuss the Towcester Relief Road, I received an update from Persimmon, their contractor and National Highways about progress on construction and the approvals process.
I stressed that greater focus should be placed on the cumulative impact of the various infrastructure projects- SRFI, HS2 and possible warehousing applications that are or will likely take place. Specifically, I am concerned that construction of Roundabout 5 will be taking place at the same time as greater HS2 vehicle movements, which will contribute to an already congested road network.
During the call I reiterated the importance of all stakeholders - National Highways, West Northamptonshire Council, HS2, SEGRO and developers communicating and working together to ensure that further disruption does not occur for residents and businesses.
